The Wellington Regional Folk Festival happens every year in a beautiful spot. We are usually very happy campers. However last year (October 2001) some of us had got to bed after a great session rather early in the morning. I was trying desperately to stay asleep as the dawn chorus started up. The gentle tweets of blackbirds, the clear fluting tones of the bell birds and then right outside my tent."Cock-a-doodle-do". Oh Sleep, blessed sleep no more. Hence the tune. It should be played lightly swung…
Galled by Gallus gallus domesticus
Nice tune Liz. I hear that roosters or cocks n hens originate from India (Jungle fowl are their wild relatives there): It seems to me that at least some vocal representatives of that proud tribe haven’t got over their jet lag yet, whether they live now in Europe, America or in the Antipodes!
Next time they trouble you, remember they’re edible!
If you like tunes with a moo moo or meow meow in them, check out these ones: (well I’ll post more when I find them!) Here’s one;
