Tune type

I don’t actually know anything about tune forms… I just picked the thing it sounded most like, but I’m not sure if it’s correct. Fraser adds lots of ornaments, of course, but these are the bones.

Another possible way to look at it? ~

Traditional Gaelic Melody

Milknut, can you tell us more about the tune. Where did you get it, for example?

Traditional Gaelic Melody

First heard it on "The Road North" by Alasdair Fraser and Paul Machlis. I’ve seen the sheet music elsewhere, but I’m not sure where.

I like the name.

Traditional Gaelic Melody

Colin McEwen emailed me to say that this tune is called "Ghoid iad mo bhean uam an reir" in the Patrick McDonald collection (1784).

Re: Ghoid Iad Mo Bhean Uam An Reir

Anyone know how to pronounce it? Especially with the IPA?

Traditional Gaelic Melody, Alasdair Fraser, The Road North

Transcribed from AF’s playing on that album.
