John Cheap The Chapman reel

I’ve known this tune for a number of years and called it John Cheap. All I could find here was a reference to “John Cheap The Chapman” under the comments for:

It’s in Gm there, but sounds about the same so I logged under
the name John Cheap the Chapman.

There’s also references on the net to a book:
John Cheap
The Chapman’s Library:
The Scottish Chap Literature Of Last Century,Classified, With Life Of Dougal Graham, Comic And Humorous (1877)

So it seems that Chap Literature refers to books which were sold by traveling pedlar’s who were referred to as Chapman.
I assume there’s some relationship between the tune and this book.

It’s slightly different and in Em so I think post by that
name here - seems to come from O’Neil’s #1360

At some point I forgot how the very last part went and started playing something quite
a bit easier (to my ears sufficient), and certainly better than simply botching the tricky bit 🙂
I’m not sure that it deserves to live among the settings so I just drop here. The smiley {🙂}
annotation in the notes is fun here, but annoys the abc render-er. Ooops! Its time for Outlander, ken? 🙂
