The Stig Jig

Composed by guitarist John McCartin from Leitrim, presumably after a character who appeared on the BBC car magazine programme ‘Top Gear’.

The name dates from Jeremy Clarkson and Andy Wilman’s school days at Repton, I believe? They called new boys “the Stig”, I think.

There’s a book for children called “The Stig of the Dump”, the character lives in a dump, don’t know the author. Rather that than awful J. Clarkson.

Reminds me a lot of I Ne’er Shall Wean Her.

jdicarlo, I like going from the Stig into Ne’er Shall Wean Her. Rough similarities in the phrasing knit the tunes together well, but they’re different enough tunes (and keys) to give the transition a nice lift.
