“The Thorn Tree”

This is a self-composed piece from the album by the same name by Grainne Hambly. From the liner notes:

"I composed the first tune in 2004. Lone thorn trees (hawthorn or whitethorn) feature prominently in Celtic folklore - such trees were thought to be home to the Little People or to protective spirits, and it is considered very bad luck to cut one down".

Thanks to Grainne for her transcription.

Flute or whistle-

For the low notes, on flute of whistle I’ve been changing the 4th and 5th measures of the tune to something like E3 GEE FBA | B2E EDE G3.
