A very simple reel from the recently-released CD by Harry Bradley and Michael Clarkson. [ Highly recommended, if you don’t have it already. ] I’ve put in 3-note triplets, but they’re optional, never compulsory. There is a slightly different version of this tune in Pat Mitchell’s book of Willie Clancy’s tunes.
As heard on track 6 of Noel Sweeney’s album “Whinny Hills of Leitrim” with a Gan Ainm mention.
Noel plays it in F, I suppose on a C flute (as he “double-rolls” the Fnats !)
This tune is also known as “Achill Sound” in Ted Furey’s book “The Ted Furey Collection of Irish Traditionnal Tunes” (which I have not).
Another name is “Girls of County Mayo” from Breathnach’s Ceol Rince Na hEirann vol.1, no 80 (Gearrchailiú Chontae Mhuigheo)
