Taken from Mary Rafferty’s ‘Hand-me-downs’. A leisurely jig.
Martin Mulvihill’s/The Ballyloughlin
Composed by Martin Mulvihill in 1972 and named by him “The Ballyloughlin Jig”
The Ballygoughlin
Actually it was called “The Ballygoughlin” on Martin Mulvihill’s 1978 LP ‘Traditional Fiddling from Limerick’, after the village in West Limerick where he was born in 1923.
The Ballygoughlin Jig
I have added Martin Mulvihill’s setting of the tune as it differs enough from Mary Rafferty’s, not least its key.
